ZNUTAR

This is an idle game with minimal interaction that simulates the voyage of the Exploration Vessel ZNUTAR which is more commonly known as the spaceship in the 1979 TSR board game called The Awful Green Things From Outer Space.

It's got retro PETSCII graphics to give it that rouge/dwarf fortress feel. 

Ten crew members go about their duties. You can follow them around by selecting them with the keys 0 through 9. (0 is the the robot R9.) 'C' key toggles to free camera movement via the arrow keys. Space bar will dispatch your selected crew member on an assigned ship duty. There are also various alerts (radiation, air leaks, fires, etc) that crew members will be ordered to go and fix. And there's always the threat of a parasitic alien invasion by Awful Green Things!

As this is a work-in-progress, the game resets after each infestation. The odds are stacked against the crew and it's highly unlikely that they will survive the combat round. The board game rules operate by themselves and you'll see Green Things, their eggs and babies and fragments battling the crew members in the terminal messages. 

Also be alert for Captain Ymir freaking out and setting the ship self-destruct mechanism which starts a ten second countdown till the reactor cores (or something explodey) explode. You can countermand the Captain's orders by hitting the 'Z' key. (Which also freaks Ymir out a bit too.) Conversely you can also hit the 'Z' key to start the self-destruct sequence yourself! After which the game restarts like nothing even happened.

'M' key to mute the annoying sound effects. ` and ~ change the map color and the ship room label colors. You can cycle through several different colors. 'F' key expands the window to full screen (720p).

I made this mostly for myself as a nostalgic coding experiment but I was pleased enough with the outcome that I am sharing this beta with you. I plan to put a few more animations in there and may perhaps flesh out the combat system to be a bit more animated. Enjoy!
